Unlike most massage modalities that utilize massage oils and require you to disrobe and climb under a sheet on a massage table, Thai Yoga Massage is performed while you are fully clothed, on a padded floor mat, and is considered a mind-body-spirit practice with the same roots as the ancient understanding of Ayurveda. Thai Yoga Massage employs therapeutic techniques of (assisted) stretching, pulling, and rocking techniques to relieve tension and enhance flexibility and range of motion. It is sometimes called the “lazy person’s yoga” as you are moved through a series of yoga-like stretches as well as receiving hands-on adjustments such as muscle compression, joint mobilization, and pressure-point massage. Along with these therapeutic actions, Thai Massage also utilizes energy work to treat the subtle energetic field within the body, which corrects blockages, deficiencies, and imbalances in the flow of energy to improve health and vitality.
